Meet Our Instructors

Joy Moeller,
BS, RDH
Joy Moeller, BS, RDH, is a Registered Dental Hygienist and is a former associate professor at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, and has been practicing orofacial myofunctional therapy for over 40 years. She is an on-going guest lecturer at USC, UCLA, Loma Linda University, West Coast University, and Cerritos College to ortho, perio, and pedo dental residents and hygiene students. She holds a position at the Sleep Medicine Mini Residency Program at NYU. She teaches in many residencies around the country and is a pioneering advocate for the benefits of myofunctional therapy, and passionate about inspiring her students to learn this invaluable treatment.

Patrick McKeown, MA, BBE
Ireland based international breathing instructor and author Patrick McKeown was educated at Trinity College Dublin. He completed his clinical training in Russia in 2002, accredited by the physician and breathing expert Dr. Konstantin Buteyko. Patrick was a chronic asthmatic for most of his life, experiencing high perceived stress and poor sleep. In 1998, he addressed his breathing pattern disorders leading to a dramatic improvement to his health. Since 2002, he has taught children and adults simple and effective ways to adopt functional breathing patterns. A TEDx speaker, Patrick’s work has touched the lives of thousands and more worldwide. His work has been published by leading publishing houses including Harper Collins (UK), William Morrow Press (USA), Red Wheel Weiser (USA), Sperling & Kupfer (Italy), Kanki Publishing Inc. (Japan). Journal publications include the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Otolaryngology.

Samantha Weaver, MS, BBE
For the past twelve years, Samantha has been dedicated to learning and sharing the benefits of myofunctional therapy. As a young girl, so many disorders were left untreated, which only fueled her passion to share the benefits of OMT. As the Director of the AOMT, she has designed the courses offered, helping to facilitate the latest evidence based research which touches on breathing reeducation, sleep disorders, TMJ disorders, posture, fascia-release, and frenulum inspection and surgery. She holds two Bachelors, one in Performance Studies (Northwestern University) and one in Communicative Disorders and Sciences (Utah State University), and a Masters of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences (CSUN). Samantha is a founding board member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences (AAMS), an adjunct professor at Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco and supports research on myofunctional therapy at several universities around the world.
